History Mystery #1
This token was found recently by long-time member, Joe Ribiero, using a metal detector in Grindle Park. One side reads – “Good for one drink or cigar” – the other side reads: “At Jay’s Billiard & Pool Room, Mendocino, CAL”. We can find no reference this Mendocino business, although we have tokens such as this from other local establishments and believe this type of metal token would date to the late 1800s or early 1900s.
